Multi-Property Opening

As the most ambitious gaming and hospitality project in the world, our client was faced with a rapidly-approaching grand opening and the need to equip more than 12,000 employees with wireless communications – prior to their hiring. A comprehensive solution was required – one that would accommodate the disparate needs of three separate hotels, a standalone shopping entity and a separate entity that managed nightclub and entertainment venues. Balancing these differences was a common need for seamless interconnection for fire, flood and emergency services. Our client also required some very unique device configuration, such as specialized talk groups and a custom hospitality application that needed to be loaded and tested for all end users (with training provided as well). 

STS consulted with the many stakeholders at the destination and created a strategic plan to achieve each disparate entity’s wireless objectives. We equipped the technology and deployed the complete tailored solution in just two weeks. During this time, the client on-ramped about 10,000 employees, and we provided training and support for all of them. Initially, on-site telecom support was provided during weekdays, but this was eventually increased to 7 day/week support for 12 hours every day. A dedicated project management team ensured timely achievement of all benchmarks and deliverables.  

After the grand opening of the property, we walked with each department head for a “day in the life” exercise, just to get to know their daily operations as intimately as possible. From there, we customized plans and policies to tailor the solution to them more precisely.

From a device perspective, we leveraged the Nextel DirectConnect platform as an alternative to outmoded mobile radios, and we implemented I365’s IS for scan groups along with the Nextel Blackberry Curve.

Even though our continual meeting (and exceeding) of expectations resulted in an expanded role throughout the cycle of the project, we achieved on-time deployment for this history-making endeavor in an extremely limited timeframe.
