Introduction
As a pioneer in elevator design and service, ThyssenKrupp Elevator sought an innovative, efficient way for their technicians in the field to diagnose computer issues within elevator wall panels without physically removing technological components. They wanted a wireless communication/diagnostic solution to make this happen.
How Strategic Telecom Solutions Helped
We began by consulting with TKE to ascertain the right technology. Following that, we sent out an RFP to two of our most trusted vendors in order to gain the most competitive pricing. With the equipping phase complete, we tailored 2400 Intermec CN50 devices to TKE by provisioning them with their proprietary software. Deployment was phased in order to equip as many technicians with their device as expeditiously as possible. We provided full support all along the way, which meant TKE didn’t incur the extra cost of increased IT staff for deployment and training. Throughout, the entire process was managed by a dedicated project manager to ensure seamless progress through every phase of the project cycle.
Results
STS made 2400 devices field-ready within the timeframe requested by the client – with absolutely no downtime during the transition. Technicians are now able to fully diagnose maintenance issues with more speed, accuracy and efficiency. Most importantly, the option to bundle voice service with their current data plans has the potential to save the company $25 per unit per month – totaling about $720,000 per year.
